How to Manually Select Tools

Manually activate and deactivate specific tools within Toolpath Machinability Reports to customize results and influence tool selection

By default, Toolpath selects tools based on the quickest MRR (material removal rate - from your preset cutting parameters) for tools with the ability to reach (or fit into) features. In some cases, you may want to force use of a specific tool, or quickly remove a tool so it is not used. Whether you broke a tool last minute or want to make Toolpath program more like you, manual tool selection can help.

To manually select tools in Toolpath Machinability Reports:

  1. On the Summary page, select Edit Environment:
    edit. environment
  2. Under Tools, add or remove the checkbox. Checked tools can be used. In the example below, the unchecked 1/2" Fraisa Roughing tool will not be used when the part is recalculated:
    remove tool
Note that tools used in the current report have a green circle and the library prioritization icon for each tool is shown. The select/deselect all checkbox is in the upper right and the search bar helps find specific tools quickly in large tool libraries.

  3. Select Recalculate to run the Machinability Report with your manual tool selection.
