How to Prefer Drilling

Toolpath is boring where it should have drilled? Let's fix that

Toolpath may choose to bore a hole you'd prefer to drill. In this scenario, there are two options:

  1. Change the Finishing Tool to a compatible drill
  2. Set Toolpath to ALWAYS prefer drilling holes through your cut config.

To change finishing tools, please see the article linked above. To set Toolpath to ALWAYS prefer drilling over boring, the you can either:

  • Apply no presets to the Bore Roughing and Bore Finishing Cutting Roles (not recommended as Toolpath will then not be able to bore holes that do not fall within your drill tolerance preferences), or,
  • Prioritize use of a library containing only drills in the Cut Config as shown in the video above. Please note that;
    • A tool library containing ONLY drills should be set as the ONLY preferred library
    • All other tool libraries should be moved one layer of priority lower (backup tool libraries can be moved to Recommendations)
    • If you have a drill index, the Stub & Jobber drills index can be used as the preferred library. If you'd like to prioritize use of your own drills, split them out of your tool library and copy them into a new library.
