How to set Deviation Limits
Deviation Limits define how much Toolpath is allowed to vary from model geometry when selecting tools to machine your parts
Toolpath uses a range when applying Deviation Limits. For any machining results that fall into the range defined by the Minor and Major Deviation Limits, Toolpath will use the tool resulting in the deviation and notify you in the Summary tab.
For deviations below the Minor Deviation Limit, Toolpath allow the deviation and notify you, but will show the deviation in green.
For deviations above the Major Deviation Limit, Toolpath will identify the feature as unmachinable with your selected Cut Config.
Toolpath currently applies Deviation Limits to ALL part features and across ALL Cut Configs.
To set Deviation Limits:
- Click on your name in the bottom left hand corner and select Preferences from the menu:
- On the User page, enter your Minor and Major Deviation Limits:
In the example above, we are telling Toolpath;- that deviations under 0.0005" are allowed, and Toolpath should show these deviations in green,
- that Toolpath will show us deviations between 0.0005" and 0.001" in yellow, and that Toolpath can use tools that result in this deviation range to machine a feature,
- that any deviation over 0.001" should not be allowed, and that Toolpath should show this feature as unmachinable (in red) with the selected Cut Config.
