How to Update Tool Libraries

Use the "Replace Tool Library" option to update Tool Libraries after you make changes in Fusion

After making changes to a Fusion Tool Library (like adding a tool, adjusting a preset, or removing a tool), you'll need to bring a new copy of the library into Toolpath.

Please not that all tool library management is currently done in Fusion. Toolpath does not currently include options to edit tools directly in Toolpath.

When you have made a change to your Fusion tool library, follow the steps below to replace the library with the updated copy in Toolpath:

  1. In the Fusion Tool Library Manager, right click the updated tool library and select Export Library:
    export fusion library
  2. Select either the .JSON or .TOOLS format and click Save. This will download a copy of the tool library.
    fusion lib export formats
  3. On the Tools page in Toolpath, find the library you need to update and click the vertical ellipsis to access the Replace Tool Library option:
    replace tool library

  4. Click Replace Tool Library and drag and drop the new copy (downloaded in Step #2) into Toolpath.
  5. This will replace the tool library with the new copy including your updates.

Replacing the tool library will automatically update all Cut Configs using that tool library.

However, if you added new preset names to the updated tool library, remember to edit any cut configs using the updated library to apply the new presets.
