Using Fusion User Defaults with Toolpath CAM

Fusion CAM User Defaults can be used capture your common machining preferences for Toolpath!

When a CAM program is sent from Toolpath to Fusion, Toolpath will respect some Fusion User Default settings, allowing you to maintain your preferences for many parameters.

Because Toolpath defines stepdown, stepover, and ramping angle from tool preset information and generates some geometry selection, these defaults will be always be overridden by the Toolpath program. But most Passes and Linking parameters are respected - giving you the option to customize CAM results.

To capture Fusion User Defaults for Toolpath;

  1. Edit the parameter to the value or expression you'd like to set as default. In the example below, I'd like to set my default finishing overlap to 60% of the Tool Diameter:
    parameter entry
  2. Hover over the entry field to show the kebab menu to the right and select "Save as User Default":
    save user default
  3. Click OK on the Toolpath to confirm the edit.

Please note that Fusion applies User Defaults to types of operations - for example, User Defaults set in a 2D Contour operation will only be applied to 2D Contour operations (or Wall Finishing from Toolpath).
